Old Boys' Memorial Mass 23rd June 2011

The Old Boys' Memorial Mass and Social for 2011 was held on Thursday 23rd June in the school.

A large number of Old Boys' were present to witness Paul Driscoll being inaugurated as President, and to hear out-going President Kevin Thomas read the Execution Account of St Thomas More.

The Mass was presided over by Father Michael Butler, Chairman of the Diocesan Liturgy Commission and Parish Priest of Old Harlow, with ex-Deputy Headmaster and Head of RE David Finnigan serving.

Paul's first official duty was to lead the Biddings and, as part of this, to read the list of known deceased Old Boys, which had once again grown since last year. The two new names added this year were past President Gareth Lewis and Anthony MacDermott.

In this, the school's Golden Jubilee an unbroken chain of staff from its very origins was present starting with 1960-original Tom Mayhew continuing through ex-Headmaster Frank Keenan, David Finnigan, David Milne and Tom Kennedy, to current staff members Louise Snook and John O'Connell (who himself qualifies as an Old Boy having left the staff for a few years before returning) and finishing with the newest member of staff, muisc teacher. James Devor who takes up his post on 1st July.

After the Mass the traditional buffet was served with beer, wine and soft drinks giving everyone present the opportunity to catch-up with old partners-in-crime and renew acquaintances with teachers.
