As usual, the dinner will be held in the school dining hall at 7.30pm for 8pm.
The four-course menu will consist of:
Crostini with brie, tomato and sweet chill jam and fresh rocket
Autumn carrot and coriander soup, served with warm rolls and sea salted butter
Braised steak in a red wine gravy, chestnut mushroom and stilton pie served with seasonal roasted vegetables and minted new potatoes, and gravy
[Vegetarian alternative: Roasted seasonal vegetable, spinach and feta pie ]
Bramley apple, cinnamon, and raisin all butter crumble served with vanilla ice cream
Fresh coffee and after dinner chocolates
ALL FOR JUST £30.00
There will be a selection of red and white wine, as well as beers/soft drinks. We shall continue with the basket for suggested donations of £10 for a bottle of wine and £1 for a beer/soft drink.
Our traditional Intercourse Bingo will be played throughout the evening and, in addition to being lots of fun (and a chance to win some money), it will also serve as a fitting tribute to John Cobbold RIP, who introduced this tremendously popular fund raiser at our very first dinner back in 1998. Be sure to bring along plenty of £1 coins to allow you to participate!
We are also delighted to announce that our special guest speaker this year will be former Headmaster Tony McDonald, who took over from Don McGregor and was at the helm from 1981 to 1985. During his first year the scandal of the Urea Formaldehyde foam insulation took place which resulted in the school building having to close for a year! Tony will be "dishing the dirt" on what really went on behind the scenes as the school battled with various authorities, not only to ensure the health of pupils and staff, but also for its very survival! With his humorous (sometimes ribald) delivery and healthy disregard for those in high places Tony's Talk promises to be highly entertaining.
The dress code for the evening will, as usual, be smart casual. If you've got one, it could well be the last time we get to wear the alumni tie, so be sure to wear it with pride!
We are also hoping to be able to include a brief tour of the original 1960s block and the 1970s extension to take place at 7pm before we eat. If you'd like to join this please aim to get to the school at 6.45pm.

Finally, it would be of great interest (and somewhat amusing) if you could bring along any old photos/memorabilia from your time at the school for everyone to have a look at. Who knows what might turn-up??
