Annual Dinner 11th October 2025: The Last Supper!

The final Annual Dinner...Saturday 11th October 2025

As usual, the dinner was held in the school dining hall.

42 Alumni attended representing leavers from 1963 through to 1987, plus a number of former teachers.

They enjoyed a four-course menu of:

Crostini with brie, tomato and sweet chill jam and fresh rocket

Autumn carrot and coriander soup, served with warm rolls and sea salted butter

Braised steak in a red wine gravy, chestnut mushroom and stilton pie served with seasonal roasted vegetables and minted new potatoes, and gravy

[Vegetarian alternative: Roasted seasonal vegetable, spinach and feta pie ]

Bramley apple, cinnamon, and raisin all butter crumble served with vanilla ice cream

Fresh coffee and after dinner chocolates

ALL FOR JUST £30.00

Our traditional Intercourse Bingo was played throughout the evening and, in addition to being lots of fun (and a chance to win some money), it also served as a fitting tribute to John Cobbold RIP, who introduced this tremendously popular fund raiser at our very first dinner back in 1998.

Our special guest speaker this year was former Headmaster Tony McDonald, who took over from Don McGregor and was at the helm from 1981 to 1986. During his first year the scandal of the Urea Formaldehyde foam insulation took place which resulted in the school building having to close for a year! Tony "dished the dirt" on what really went on behind the scenes as the school battled with various authorities, not only to ensure the health of pupils and staff, but also for its very survival! With his humorous (sometimes ribald) delivery and healthy disregard for those in high places Tony's Talk proved to be highly entertaining.

To mark ther fact that this was the last Annual Dinner the evning kicked off with a brief tour of the original 1960s block and the 1970s extension

Many of those present brought along old photos/memorabilia from their time at the school for everyone to have a look at.
